Mumbai, July 27: Skygazer! Be ready with your binoculars and telescopes to catch the beauty of tonight’s Lunar Eclipse. Over the night of July 27 and early hours of 28, you will witness a blood moon, estimated to be the longest of its kind in a hundred years. During this event, the Earth will cast its shadow on the Moon that will radiate a scarlet red colour. The longest lunar eclipse of the century will be visible in two parts; first being a total lunar eclipse, followed by a partial eclipse.


 

The total phase of the "blood moon" eclipse of July 27 will last one hour and 43 minutes, during which Earth's natural satellite will turn a spectacular red or ruddy-brown color.

Chandra Grahan or Lunar Eclipse 2018: Date and Timing of The Blood Moon

  • Chandra Grahan is slated to be on full moon night today that will fall on the night of July 27. The first phase of the eclipse will begin from 11:54 pm IST on July 27, when moon will be cast in earth's shadow.

  • The total lunar eclipse is said to be visible from 1:00 am IST from July 28, and will be visible in cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Pune

  • The second phase of the eclipse will start from 2:43 am IST, wherein a partial lunar eclipse will be taking place.
