MS Dhoni most admired sports personality in India: Survey

New Delhi, July 28: Mahendra Singh Dhoni who is known as one of the greatest finishers in limited-overs cricket, is the most loved and admired sports personality in India.

 

According to a recent survey by yougov.co.uk which conducted various polls and surveys with a database of more than 4 million people, Mahendra Singh Dhoni bagged more votes than India skipper Virat Kohli and legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar.

MS Dhoni emerged at the top with an admiration score of 7.7 percent, Tendulkar was next best at sixth with 6.8 percent, while Virat Kohli could only secure a score of 4.8 percent. Importantly, Dhoni was also the second most admired person in India only behind Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Legend Football players Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are among the other sportspersons who enjoy huge popularity in India. Ronaldo bagged 2.60 percent votes while Messi secured 2.00 percent votes. David Beckham is also in the list with 1.60 percent votes.

MS Dhoni, who has won the T20 World Cup and the ICC World cup, is the most successful India Test captain of all time, winning 27 games and leading them to the No 1 spot in the ICC Rankings in 2009 for the first time ever. Dhoni is still playing in the India ODI and T20I sides as a keeper batsman.
