Punjab police arrests 11 notorious gangsters with arms and ammunitions

Chandigarh, July 31: Punjab Police, in its crusade against organized crime, busted a gang of notorious gangsters related to Devinder Bambiha gang and nabbed 11 members.

 

Notably, Punjab’s Organised Crime Control Unit (OCCU) of intelligence wing arrested 11 active members belonging to Devinder Bambiha gang including Aman Kumar and Yadwinder Singh.

In a press conference, Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh, IGP Intelligence (OCCU) told that according to preliminary inputs and investigations carried out so far, both were wanted in a case of brutal killing of one Hardev Singh at the poultry farm of the latter in Rampura Phul on June 17 this year. “An FIR in this regard had already been registered in the police station Phul under various sections of IPC and Arms Act,” he added.

IGP Intelligence (OCCU) further informed that this incident of murder was reportedly committed on the instructions of another notorious gangster Sukhpreet Singh and his accomplice Gurbax Singh Sevawala. After this killing, Sukhpreet went ahead to take credit of this murder on his Facebook Id for his alleged involvement in the shoot-out resulting in the death of gangster Davinder Shooter in September 2016.

“Another arrested gang-member Veena Buttar of Moga had provided weapons to Aman Jaito which were used in the killing of Gogi Jatana involved in at least six cases of similar nature,” he added. Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh further said the other arrested gang-members include Bittu Mehal Kalan who is facing about 34 cases of robbery, dacoity, carjacking etc.

“While the remaining members of this gang are Rajat Kumar, Karan Mangla, Sukha, Palwinder Singh, Sumit Bajaj, Alam Bhattal and Lakhwinder Singh,” the IGP Intelligence stated.

He also revealed that these criminals were involved in several cases of murder, attempt to murder, ransoms, snatching of vehicles cars, smuggling of narcotics, dealing in illegal weapons besides several cases of hurt and armed robberies and theft across the state of Punjab and Haryana.

IG OCCU also disclosed that total 17 weapons were recovered from the possession of these gang members which include 9 pistols, 5 revolvers, one rifle and 2 guns. Some of the weapons are foreign made, he added. In addition to this, two Scorpios and one Hyundai Creta car have also been recovered from their possession.

All the accused persons were produced before a court of Rajpura and were remanded for six days police custody. Further investigations are going on and some more arrests expected in this operation, he added.
