New Delhi/ Vijayawada, July 31: In a bid to make a dent in Chandra Babu Naidu’s stronghold, BJP on Monday appointed senior Kerala BJP leader and Rajya Sabha V Muraleedharan as poll in-charge of Andhra Pradesh. A formal Kerala BJP Chief and Rajya Sabha MP from Maharashtra will look after the political affairs in the state.

In another major development, Sunil Deodhar a trusted lieutenant of Prime Minister Modi and National President Amit Shah has been roped in for the assignment of Andhra Pradesh. Deodhar also has been promoted as national secretary.

In March,  TDP after the stint of four years with Narendra Modi led NDA government had snapped ties with BJP over the non-fulfillment of Special category status to the newly crafted coastal state.

Taking a cue from political development in the state, BJP appointed Ram Madhav to monitor the political affairs of the state. The apex leadership chose Kanna Laxminarayana, a former Congressman and arch-rival of Naidu as the state –in charge of Andhra. Kanna replaced K Hari Babu, a soft-spoken MP from Vizag.

Earlier in this month, the yellow army with the support of Congress had moved a non-confidence against the central government. While replying to the debate of no-confidence motion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi assured that NDA government would extend all possible help to Andhra Pradesh.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and TDP National President Chandra Babu Naidu leaving no stone unturned to mobilize public sentiments against the ruling party at the center. On numerous occasion, Naidu blamed Modi- Shah for stalling the development of Andhra Pradesh.
