Panjim, July 4: With all experiments done with chemical fertilizers and pesticides, the Goa farmer are now advised to take to farming Vedic Mantra to boost the quality of crop and their production. According to reports Goa’s Agriculture Minister Vijay Sardesai inaugurated a pilot project in a field close to his residence in Fatorda involving this Vedic Mantra Technique on Tuesday. The farmer is required to sit in meditation and concentrate on chanting “Om rom jum sah” for at least 20 minutes in his field daily to boost the quality and production.

Christened as “Shiv Yog Cosmic Farming” this innovative experiment is designed by Dr Avadhoot Shivananda, a chemical engineer turned yogi. He set up the Shiv Yog Foundation in Gurgaon in Haryana and wife of Goa Agriculture Minister is the follower of this foundation. The video of this technique has gone viral among the farmers across the state on social media.

Sardesai supported the project saying that there is no financial requirement involved in this project and as the Agriculture Minister he is bound to explore every method to help farmers of the state to boost up their production. Responding to the critics, he challenged them to convince him that a rock show or beauty contest will also help increase farm production, he will not mind recommending that to the farmers. “We need to look into methods to get everyone interested in farming”, he said.

Crediting his wife Usha for introducing this Vedic technique to him, Sardesai said that his wife is a Shiv Yogi and has been promoting this philosophy. He admitted that he was skeptical at first but it’s not magic and there are studies supporting this method, he added.

The Goa Director of Agriculture Nelson Figueriedo along with Minister’s wife attended an hour-long workshop with Dr. Shivananda where they were told about the benefit of “channeling Shakti into the Soil”, Sardesai said.

The farmers in Goa have been receiving a video on social media for the last week. The videos are said to be shot in the fields of Madhya Pradesh showing farmers sitting in their fields meditating with Shivananda who is also known as “Babaji”. Shivananda calls this as “tapping the cosmic Shakti through the third eye similar to that of Lord Shiva and forcing that energy to dilute the negative and destructive sounds around the field pushing the universe’s positive vibrations towards healthier seed germination”.

Another video shows Shivananda interacting with scientists and doctors on this ‘Third Eye Spiritual Exercise” which according to him is a “science beyond science”.

The Goa Agriculture Department officials said that they had a ‘limited role’ in this exercise. The farmers in the state were invited to join a two-day workshop o this subject where representatives of Shiv Yog Foundation told them about this technique. They are told to chant “Om rom jum sah” for 20 minutes during the seed planting till they take roots to ensure the ‘cosmic energy brings in positive microorganisms alive’ and reduce the dependence on fertilizers in a gradual manner.

Before her met ‘Babaji’ Sardesai was also a sceptic but gradually got convinced by reading the studies and its results. The Central Government has listed this particular method of Shiv Yog Foundation under its परंपरागत कृषि विकास योजना (Traditional Farming Development Schemes). This has made the job of Sardesai even easier to introduce this scheme in Goa.

His wife Usha had practiced this technique on the home plants and orchids on the front porch of her house and results were positive. Sardesai said: “ All I know is there are some celestial sounds one can capture and channel through meditation and help increase the yield and decrease the input of fertilizers.

The Agriculture Minister said that Goa has 40000 hectares of cultivable land lying fallow. If this helps farmers to take up farming with new vigor then that is enough for me, he said.

Experiments related to effect of music on plant were done in the past and they had given positive results. The experiment conducted by famous scientist Dr Jadgadish Chandra Basu is well known and it had proved that the plants too have life. If the humans and animals can be influenced by the music they hear, then it is also possible that the plants too have a similar effect on them.

The Shiv Yog Foundation technique is nothing but further assertion of this universal fact that plants too have life and they can be influenced by negative and positive energies both yielding the results accordingly. Goa Agriculture Minister deserves full credit to involve the farmers of the state in this exercise to ensure maximum yield with better quality by introducing this technique.

As usual, the gang of seculars, progressives, intellectuals, ‘andhshraddha’-walls will criticize the Goa Minister and farmers; but they should not get deterred by their propaganda and get firmly convinced in their project. This experiment will have two-fold impact on the farmers. One, this will strengthen their relationship and bond of love with the soil that is always considered as ‘Mother’; and Two, they will experience a spiritual enhancement in their personality and character.

So, with best wishes to Goa Agriculture MinisterVijay Sardesai and his better half Usha for introducing this Vedic Mantra technique to Goa farmers for their spiritual and material development.
