Damascus, July 5: Hudayfah al-Badri, a son of Islamic State terrorist organization leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi has been killed in the city of Homs in Syria. Notably, the ISIS terrorist organization which was ones known as the most dangerous terrorist group is now witnessing a historic fall in Syria due to continuous bombing by the US-led coalition armed forces.

The ISIS through its official news channel on Tuesday confirmed the killing of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi’s son in Syria. In a statement, it said, "Hudayfah al-Badri, the son of the Caliph was killed in an operation against the Nusayriyyah and the Russians at the thermal power station in Homs.”

The statement also showed the image of a young boy carrying an assault rifle and gave no further details. On the other side, Baghdadi's whereabouts remain unknown but the statement from ISIS spokesperson says he is still alive. Importantly, the word Nusayriyyah refers to Syria's Alawite community.

Baghdadi's last message came in the form of a 46-minute audio recording, released via the Al-Furqan news organization in September last year, where he urged followers across the world to wage attacks against the West and to keep fighting in Iraq, Syria and elsewhere. However, after that, the reports emerged that Baghdadi was killed in an airstrike.

BACKGROUND:

The United States-led international coalition fighting Islamic State earlier estimated that less than 1,000 terrorists belonging to the hardline Sunni militant group remain in Syria. Interestingly, Syria was affected due to the self-proclaimed caliphate ISIS captured many important provinces.
