Taking bilateral relations to new heights, Prez Kovind affirms firm commitment to Bhutan’s success

New Delhi, July 7: Reaffirming to resolve bilateral relations and enhance co-operation through mutual conduct, India and Nepal agreed to take the exemplary bilateral partnership to new heights. The two leaders held discussions on a range of bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.

After having a delegate-level talk with the ministers the Bhutan Prime Minister met PM Narendra Modi taking forward the best possible ways to enhance the relations between the two countries. Bhutan PM Tobgay also met President Ram Nath Kovind who restated that India is firmly committed to partner Bhutan in its socio-economic development and to support its 12th Five Year Plan, based on Bhutan’s priorities.

Impressed with the mannerism of Bhutan, President Kovind stated that many of the projects under Bhutan’s recently concluded 11th Five year Plan have been implemented in a timely manner. India and Bhutan share an exemplary bilateral partnership. Both the countries historical and cultural linkages make them natural friends and partners. Government and people of India appreciate the vision of the Druk Gyalpos, which has guided relations between India and Bhutan

Affirming the relation between India and Nepal, PM Narendra Modi asserted that both the countries share close relation and India will continue to partner with Bhutan in pursuit of its development goals. Bhutan PM Tobgay thanked the Indian Government for its invaluable support and partnership for Bhutan’s socio-economic development.

The two Prime Ministers also reviewed the bilateral economic and hydro-power co-operation, including the progress in the implementation of the on-going hydro-electric projects in Bhutan. PM Modi complimented the people and the Bhutan government on its imminent graduation to a middle-income country, and for achieving economic progress.

Both leaders expressed happiness over the commemoration of Golden Jubilee of the establishment of formal diplomatic relations between India and Bhutan.
