Lucknow, July 9: Uttar Pradesh Health Minister Siddharth Nath Singh has urged UP Governor Ram Naik to rename the city of Allahabad to Prayag.
As quoted by ANI, recalling the contribution of Naik in renaming 'Bombay' as Mumbai, Singh requested the UP Governor Ram to take appropriate steps in renaming Allahabad as Prayag.
In 2004, the former BJP leader lost to actor Govinda from his Mumbai North seat.
After Sweeping 2017 Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls, several BJP leaders had pitched for the demand of reaming Allahabad.
Allahabad is famous for Mahakumbh and ‘Triveni Sangam’, a confluence of Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati rivers.
