U'Khand to make July 22 green: Will Plant more than 1.5 plants in just one day

Dehradun, July 9: Uttarakhand has tightened its waists to make its state more green as on July 22 it has been deiced to plant nearly 1.5 lakh trees along banks of Rispana.


 

To seek the public support, Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat visited Massi Fall, the origin of the river, on Sunday.

The Chief Minister has launched Mission Rispana under which more than 1.5 lakh saplings of various species will be planted on the same day on July 22 along the banks of the river starting from the Massi fall, the origin of Rispana, up till Mothrowala, where the river leaves Dehradun.

Addressing the people, the Chief Minister said it was his government’s endeavor to revive the dying rivers in the state and both Rispana and Kosi rivers had been taken up for revival in the first phase. The saplings to be planted on July 22 will include those bearing fruit, providing fodder and broadleaf ones which help in water conservation. He also appealed that the people who cannot come to Rispana to plant tree saplings can do the same in and around their houses.

 

In his tweet he has urged its citizen by saying, “to revive the dream, the Mahaabhiyan of planting more than a half lakh plant on the same day on July 22 will be run. On the same day, 1.5 lakh saplings will be planted on the coast of Kosi River in Almora. Be part of this Mahaabhiyan to ensure your participation in saving the dream and Kosi River.”
