New Delhi, Aug 1: A delegation of Telugu Desam Party MPs today called on President Ram Nath Kovind and expressed reservations over center’s alleged delay tactics in clearing Kadapa steel plant in Andhra Pradesh. The TDP representation led by former Union Minister Ashok Gajapati Raju submitted a memorandum on Kadapa steel plant under the provision of AP reorganization act.

The yellow army members urged President Kovind to direct central government to resolve the long pending issue. Underlining the importance of Kadapa steel plant, TDP maintained that the proposed steel plant would address the problem of economically backward Rayalaseema region.

Later, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MPs met Union Steel Minister Birender Singh and submitted a memorandum regarding Kadapa steel plant

In June, TDP Lawmaker CM Ramesh had launched the indefinite fast on the demand of Kadapa steel plant. During his Singapore visit, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandra Babu Naidu requested Australian firm Fortescue Metals Group to set up a steel plant in the Kadapa district. The Chief Minister had requested center to submit a revised affidavit in the apex court to clear the misconceptions about the feasibility report.
