Guwahati, August 11: The Panchayat and Rural Development Department in Assam has stressed on accelerating the pace of overall development of rural areas through successful implementation of various programmes.

The department has also taken steps for conducting a door to door survey under Prime Minister Awas Yojna Grameen. For this purpose 26,810 village level facilitators are being imparted training by State Institute of Panchayat and Rural Development who will visit every household under PMAY-G to understand the problems faced by the beneficiaries.
To make this drive more successful, Rural Development Minister Naba Doley has directed all the departmental officials to participate in the survey. It is noted that about 10,000 officials will be visiting the newly constructed PMAY houses. Minister Doley along with other ministers, MPs and also MLAs will also take part in the drive to inspire all concerned.

In a similar context, the state of Uttar Pradesh has also initiated the attempt to include Lok Kalyan Mitra as interns to publicize the welfare schemes of government. The selected students will have to go to villages and get the inputs of the people to fill in the forms to the eligible people liable to the schemes. To keep on their performance, a district-level committee will be set up which will take a report of the working done by the students for three months and will then report the same to the government. The Lok Kalyan Mitras will be appointed in October after the written examination and will be given quality training from the institutes in Uttar Pradesh.
