Terming IIT as ‘India's Instrument for Transformation’, PM Modi urges students to innovate for better future of India

Mumbai, August 11: Conferring the students with the best! Indian Institute of Technology in Bombay had the best opportunity to imbibe great insights from the man with wise advice and an idol for millions now, Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the 56th Annual Convocation of IIT in Bombay.

Describing IITs as 'India's Instrument for Transformation', Prime Minister Modi said innovation and new technology will decide the future direction of development in which prestigious institutions such as IITs will play important role. He announced that the Government has decided to grant Rs 1000 crore grant to the IITs.

Speaking at the convocation, PM Modi said; let us affirm that the best ideas will come from Indian laboratories and from Indian students. He appealed the youngsters to innovate in India, innovate for humanity. Encompass a wide range from mitigating climate change to ensuring better agricultural productivity, from cleaner energy to water conservation, from combatting malnutrition to effective waste management.

 

Terming Innovation is the buzz-word of the 21st century; PM Modi stated that any society that does not innovate will stagnate. India is emerging as a hub for start-ups shows the thirst for innovation. The people should make India the most attractive destination for innovation and enterprise. Innovations and Enterprise are going to be the foundation stone for making India a developed economy. A long-term sustainable technology-led economic growth is possible on this foundation.

 

Further, the Prime Minister said that the students have received what can be called the best that our education system has to offer. They represent the diversity of India. From different states, speaking different languages, from different backgrounds the students here merge in pursuit of knowledge and learning. IITs have built Brand India globally. IIT students are at the forefront of some of the best startups in India.

 

Hailing the achievements by the top engineers from IIT, PM Modi said that the government alone cannot achieve all the success for the country. The country will only become powerful and successful only when the people of the country take part in the achievements and with the best ideas coming from the young minds because they are the bright future of futuristic India.
