NCW shakes hand with Facebook to train 60000 women through its Digital Literacy Programme

New Delhi, August 11: The National Commission for Women has shaken hands with the Facebook and Cyber Peace Foundation (a civil society organization based in Ranchi, Jharkhand involved in training related to all aspects of cyber security), initiated a ‘Digital Literacy Programme’ for college/university students.


 

Minister of Women and Child Development, Maneka Sanjay Gandhi have answered a question in Lok Sabha on Friday.

The programme seeks to promote digital literacy for women, raising awareness about cyber crimes, advising the users about the resources available to women, to prevent the problems and also how to handle such crimes. The ‘Digital Literacy Programme’ aims to train 60,000 women in Universities across major cities of India regarding safe use of internet, social media and email.

Also, Union Minister Rajnath Singh formally inducted the unit, the police force in New Delhi will be the first in the country to have an all-woman Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team. The team will be deployed for the security of the national capital as well as Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 15, 2018.
