Women Empowerment at peak! Indian Railway announces 50% reservation for women in upcoming RPF Recruitment

Patna, August 13: Indian Railways have always opened its wide doors availing opportunities for youngsters. In a new attempt to provide employment, the Union Minister of Railways Piyush Goyal made some major announcements in the purview of increasing the women employment in Indian Railways.

Addressing an event in Patna, he said that there would be 50% reservation for women in the upcoming recruitment of up to 10,000 Railway Police Force (RPF) jawans. The Railway Minister also said that the process for the recruitment in 13,000 jobs in Railways will begin soon. Informing about the criteria, he said that the Ministry will not conduct an interview but the recruitment will be done on the basis of a computer-based test.

Informing about the same, Piyush Goyal was quoted saying, “In the upcoming recruitment of 9500-10000 RPF jawans, there will be a 50% reservation for women & 13,000 jobs are also coming up in Railways in which there will be a computer-based test, no interviews.”

 

Earlier the Railway Department had announced recruiting RPF jawans. The vacancies were announced for the recruitment of 4,403 male candidates and 4,216 female candidates for the posts of constables and 819 male candidates and 301 female candidates for the posts of sub-inspectors.

Indian Railways is one of the biggest employers in the world. Railway Protection Force (RPF) was introduced for the first time in the central act of 1957. The current number of people working in the RPF is around 70,000 which is one of the biggest workforces in the country.
