Security forces launched Operation-All Out to deliver a lethal blow to terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir with a long-term plan for prevailing peace in the trouble-torn Valley. Under Operation-All Out, which began in September last year, security forces have so far killed 190 terrorists.

On 15th of August, we will mark our 71st Independence Day but one important question arises in our mind.. When we will get freedom from “Terrorism”?

Definition- Terrorism is the use of intentionally indiscriminate violence as a means to create terror among masses of people or fear to achieve a financial, political, religious or ideological aim. Terrorism and terrorists are not for any cause except killing innocents.

The whole country has witnessed terror-related violence including gun battle, bomb blasts etc. But Jammu and Kashmir is the only an Indian state which has witnessed terror-related violence most. Therefore, Operation-All Out came into existence to provide the Independence to the whole country including Jammu and Kashmir from Terrorism.

Operation All-Out

Security forces including Indian Army, CRPF, Intelligence Agency and state police launched Operation-All Out to eradicate the menace of terrorism from Jammu and Kashmir. In September last year (in 2017), security forces launched a massive house-to-house sweep in Jammu and Kashmir, using 3,000 security forces to root out terrorists.

As many as 258 terrorists from different terror outfits including Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM), Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) etc have been shortlisted for Operation All-Out that has been launched strategically in many parts of Jammu and Kashmir.

OPERATION ALL-OUT (Sep-2017 to June-2018)

190 TERRORISTS KILLED

(OF WHICH 110 WERE PAKISTANI AND 80 LOCALS)

In "Operation All Out" security forces successfully eliminated the top guns of key terror groups, including Lashkar-e-Taiba's Abu Dujana, and slain Hizbul commander Burhan Wani's successor Sabzar Ahmad Bhat, Khalid of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), and the nephews of JeM chief Masood Azhar and 26/11 mastermind Zakir Ur Rehman Lakhvi.

Importantly, many more to be eliminated in near future..

Why Operation All-Out

Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani was eliminated in July 2016 which was later followed by a string of protests across Jammu and Kashmir. The law and order was shattered in Jammu and Kashmir for nearly seven months. Exactly almost one year later, in a bid to avenge Burhan Wani’s killing, Hizbul and Lashkar came together and attacked Amarnath Yatra on July 10, 2017 in which eight pilgrims were killed and 18 others injured. This was the turning point and "Operation All Out" began.

Operation All-Out is not all about only killing terrorists but also restricting separatists from providing anti-India elements shelter, financial assistance etc.

NIA crackdown and Demonetization gave a massive support to Operation All-Out.

NIA crackdown on separatists and Demonetization are the two factors that played a major role which led separatists starving of funds. As soon as these separatists became helpless, terrorists were forces to come out of their hideout which gave security forces a big chance to eliminate them.

  • The intensified efforts from National Investigation Agency (NIA) against Kashmiri separatists have led to curb down the terror funding and terror-related activities in the Jammu and Kashmir. Nearly a dozen of separatists have been arrested including Altaf Ahmad Shah, son-in-law of Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Nayeem Khan, Shahid-ul-Islam, Farooq Ahmed Dar and Mohamad Akbar Khanday. Geelani's close aides, Tehreek-e-Hurriyat spokesman Ayaz Akbar and Peer Saifullah were also arrested by the NIA from the Valley. While many others on the radar of central probe agency. Crores of unaccounted money were also recovered which led separatists starved of funds.
  • On the other side, PM Modi led central government announced the demonetization of all 500 and 1000 banknotes on 8 November 2016 in a bid to crack down on the use of illicit and counterfeit cash to fund illegal activity and terrorism. The move stopped the flow of cash into the hands of separatists.

When counter-terrorism operations began in full swing?

However, the coward acts of violence of Pakistan-breeded terrorists were not stopping and there was a need of a hardcore plan to wipe out all anti-national elements from the state of Jammu and Kashmir. As soon as the Prime Minister Narendra Modi led NDA government came in the centre in the year 2014, security forces were given free hand and the hunting of terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir began in full swing.

How, when and why terrorism hit Jammu and Kashmir and India?

Today we all are marking 72nd Independence Day as on the same day in 1947 India earned freedom from British rule. But this Independence led to the partition i.e India and Pakistan and with this partition, the conflict started in both the countries over few princely states including Jammu and Kashmir, Hyderabad and Junagarh.

Hyderabad and Junagarh were favourably resolved in India's favour. Integration of Jammu and Kashmir with India was not a smooth affair. It was only after Pakistan‐aided forces including the Pakistan army had invaded Jammu and Kashmir that the then ruler Raja Hari Singh of Jammu and Kashmir signed the instrument of accession in India's favour. However, Pakistan could not accept this truth and after losing all three wars i.e in 1965, 1971 and 1999, the neighbour started a proxy war- Terrorism.

Pakistani security forces, Intelligence Agency ISI with the help of financial assistance from West started harbouring terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir and planted some separatists in 1990s. Terrorists groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba, Harkat-ul-Jihad-e-Islami, al-Badr, Hizbul Mujahideen, Jaish-e-Mohammad and many others got birth and started spreading bloodshed in Jammu and Kashmir.

The terrorists illegally started crossing borders with the help of local separatists and went on rocking Jammu and Kashmir. Pakistan in the name of freedom of Jammu and Kashmir breeded these terrorists and targeted the innocent civilians as well as the Indian forces. At one side, terrorists were killing innocents and at the other side the separatists were politically supporting all the coward acts of Pakistan’s agenda and terrorism. Separatists supported these terrorists in several ways including financial assistance, providing hiding places, stone pelting etc.

Casualties so far due to terrorism

According to the official figures, terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir has claimed over 41,000 lives in past 28 years. The casualties include 14,000 civilians, 5,000 security personnel. As many as 22,200 terrorists between 1990 and June 2018.

According to the External Affairs Ministry, from 1990 to 2001, with a total of 5178 incidents related to terrorism took place which claimed a life of 9718 civilians, 3053 security personnel. A total of 16714 terrorists were killed.

After 2001 to June 2018, terrorism claimed the lives of over 4000 civilians and at least 2000 security personnel were martyred. Nearly 5000 terrorists were killed during this period.

What a true Indian feel?

When we see the above data, being an Indian we feel anger as our blood starts boiling. Being a true Indian we feel pain for the innocents, their families. Being a true Indian, we feel to eradicate terrorists as well as the menace of terrorism and OPERATION-ALL OUT is exactly doing the same.
