Thiruvananthapuram, July 14:  Kerala is reeling under the worst natural calamity it has faced in nearly a century. Rains in Kerala have caused widespread disruption to n loss of life and livelihood. Nearly 20,000 houses and at least 10,000 km of roads have also been damaged in the floods. Over 60,000 people have been displaced and rendered homeless with the death toll rising to 39.

 

The weatherman has issued a fresh warning asking fishermen not to venture into the sea Large parts of the state, known for its verdant valleys and plantations, looked like a massive swamp.

The IMD, in its fresh warning, issued a ‘Red alert’, asking people to be cautious as there was a possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall in most places in Idukki, Wayanad, Kannur, Ernakulam, Palakkad and Malappuram districts in the next 48 hours. Fishermen have also been advised to stay away from the Southwest and Central Arabian Sea as conditions are likely to be very rough.

A torrential rain that struck the southern state of Kerala had triggered a series of landslides and caused heavy floods in Idukki and Wayanad district, leaving a trail of destruction across the state.

But in such distress and the pathetic scenes, there is an omnipresent element at the ground zero level, relentlessly working for the people to take them out of misery and that voluntary, non-governmental element is the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.


RSS Swayamsevaks are working day and night to rescue the flood-affected people in Kerala with huge supplies of rice, pulses, sugar & medicines continue in several districts of Kerala. Trucks with food material on their way to relief camps in flood-affected districts of Kerala. Looking at the gravity of the distress, RSS Swayamsevaks rushed in for rescue works at various Flood hit zones in Kerala, helped and served the flood-affected Citizens with Food, Shelter etc.

Sewa Bharati unit in Kerala has gone on a mission mode to ensure relief at flood-affected areas. Medical teams are being organized and sent to the areas of largets distress in Kerala. The team includes six doctors and 15 paramedics. Dr Ranjith Hari, district president, Sewa Bharati , said, “We are going to the flood-affected areas with a team of six doctors and 15 paramedics. We are also taking loads of medicines”.
