Srinagar, August 14: Security forces on Monday arrested two over ground workers (OGW) from Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir. Notably, this is a result of intensified efforts of security forces to curb terrorism and terrorists from Jammu and Kashmir with an aim to bring peace, law and order in the valley.

These over ground workers were in contact with the terrorists who tried snatching a rifle from a bank guard in Pulwama district. However, the rifle snatching bid was failed as a bank guard successfully foiled the attempt. A case under relevant sections was registered and the investigation was initiated immediately.

The police spokesman said, “During the course of investigation, the involvement of two OGWs, Yasir Ahmad Wani who is a resident of Babapora and Yawar Sultan who is a resident of Shar Shali Khrew, surfaced in the commission of crime.” He further added both were subsequently arrested and the case is being probed.

On 10th August, two persons barged inside the Jammu and Kashmir Bank branch at Khrew in the south Kashmir district and attacked bank guard Mumtaz Ahmad with pepper spray and a sharp-edged weapon in an attempt to snatch his 12-bore rifle. Ahmad successfully foiled the bid to snatch his rifle but suffered injuries, following which he was rushed to Khrew hospital.

Earlier, the centre has said that 110 terrorists were killed in the first seven months of this year. Interestingly, the Indian security forces have led a massive war against terrorism and terrorists in the inner parts of Jammu-Kashmir and forward areas. Therefore, Anti-Terrorism operation is continued with such a speed that more than 206 terrorists were eliminated by Indian troops last year.
