Magic of North East zone sparks: Guwahati stands in top cleanest railway station

New Delhi, August 18: While ‘Swachcha Bharat’ wave is stirring its magic overall, Jodhpur and Marwar railway stations topped the cleanliness chart. Also North East India following the Swachch Mantra, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) zone was ranked among the cleanest railway zones.

Guwahati Railway Station stands as one of the cleanest stations from North East zone. During the survey the Guwahati Railway Station scored 863.86 out of 1,000. Jodhpur and Jaipur were the first and second among the A1 category stations scoring 977.97 and 972.30 respectively. Last year, Visakhapatnam was on the first spot. Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh was placed at number three.

North Western Railway topped the list as the cleanest zone. South Central Railway (SCR) was declared the second cleanest zone. East Coast Railway was placed at the third spot in the cleanest zones.

Among the A-category stations, Bongaigaon was ranked 84, Barpeta Road 115, Rangiya Junction 120, Jorhat Town 216, Silchar 256, Lumding 259, Dimapur 266, Tinsukia 295 and Dibrugarh Town 305.

The Third Party Survey on station cleanliness was released by Union Railways Minister Piyush Goyal, revealed that Guwahati Railway Station has been ranked 21 among the A1 category railway stations in India in terms of cleanliness.

The survey was conducted by the Quality Council of India (QCI), a reputed autonomous body that works to assure quality standards across all spheres of economic and social activities in the country. The railway has a ‘Swachch Rail’ portal to showcase cleanliness rankings of various stations.
