Punjab police organizes workshop to prevent cybercrime threats on real-time basis

Chandigarh, August 18: Punjab police organized the first-ever workshop in collaboration with National Critical Information Infrastructure Protection Centre New Delhi (NCIIPC) with an aim to prevent cybercrime threats on a real-time basis.

 

An official spokesperson of the Punjab police said that the workshop was first of its kind in the state. “It was organized by IT&T wing to sensitize the senior police officers about vulnerable issues of cybercrime, hacking, cyber threats and auditing,” he added.

“Apart from this, the cyber experts have also put light on how to conduct information security audits and protect the systems, networks and databases from unauthorized access, unusual malicious activities and cyber incidents,” the police spokesperson said.

Divulging more, he added that the experts have sensitized the officers about the hacking of systems and networks and how to secure against such attacks. "Lots of questions and queries of the participants were addressed on the spot. They have also created awareness about the pitfalls and vulnerabilities of the critical information infrastructure", he said.

The spokesperson informed that the range IGs, DIGs, SSPs and the commissioners of police have attended this workshop through video conferencing. “Similar workshops would be held for district level officers in future, he concluded.
