Thiruvananthapuram, August 18: With Kerala engulfing in a severe flood, the brave-hearts Indian Army, Indian Navy and Indian Air Force has done a commendable job evacuating the people to relief camps. The Defence Ministry has done an applauding job in rebuilding the lives of the affected people. The state has till now opened 80 dams, 324 lives lost and 223139 people are in about 1500+ relief camps. 

Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman sanctioned the extra choppers, as people marooned in Chengannur and Chalakudy could only be airlifted to safety. In order to rescue & move people from flood-affected regions to safer locations and relief camps, around 221 motorized and 7 non-motorised boats from Indian Army, Indian Navy & India Coast Guard have been deployed in Kerala.

This is how Garud Commando of Indian Air Force carrying out rescue operations by winching the survivor from the rooftop and evacuating in Mi17V5 helicopter to rescue camps.

The Indian Army is deeply involved in the rescue & relief operations in Kerala. A total of 10 flood relief columns, each having an approximate strength of 65 personnel is carrying out rescue operations.

Hats off to the Indian Air Force! A pregnant lady with water bag leaking had been airlifted and evacuated to Sanjivani. The doctor was lowered to assess the lady. Operation successful!

A sheer glimpse of utmost dedication for the people of his country! Look how a soldier from the Indian Army on his rescue mission in Kerala was seen hanging in the bucket of a JCB risking his life for others in his mission of evacuation!

 

The Defence currently is undertaking this massive rescue camp wherein a flight diver Amit rescues a small child from Aluva. It is quite appreciating to the armed forces for their intensive work in rescuing the stranded people and also helping them come out of this massive disaster.

Just look at how the Indian Army used helicopters to evacuate the stranded people.

Rescue teams continue to evacuate people tirelessly to mitigate the misery.2198 people rescued so far & guided 6310 marooned people to safer locations. 21 additional boats hired today for distribution of food materials.

The strong flow of water in these regions is the greatest obstruction hindering the rescue missions. CM Vijayan said more helicopters and big boats will be deployed for rescue operations today. The helicopters and the lifeboats will be deployed in the areas.
