11th World Hindi Conference kicks off with heartfelt tributes to former PM and Hindi lover Atal Bihari Vajpayee

Port Louis, August 18: 11th World Hindi Conference kicks off with a vision to expand the reach of our national language –Hindi in every corner of the globe. Mauritius bowed down in silence paying tributes to the former Prime Minister and Hindi lover, Atal Bihari Vajpayee.


 

11th World Hindi Conference welcomed External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, Spokesperson for Ministry of External Affairs Raveesh Kumar along with Mauritius Prime Minister Praveen Kumar Jagannath. 11th World Hindi Conference aims to expand the reach of Hindi language on a global level. This year the theme of the conference is "Hindi World and Indian Culture".

Addressing the inaugural session of 11th World Hindi Conference, EAM Sushma Swaraj said that "On the pretext of the conference today, all Hindi world representatives are present in this auditorium to pay tribute to Atlaji."

  

Mauritius PM Praveen Kumar Jagannath inaugurated the conference in Port Louis.

 

MEA Spokesperson Raveesh Kumar tweeted after the 11th World Hindi Conference was inaugurated saying “And this started 11th World Hindi Conference! Motherly tribute to former Prime Minister and Hindi lover, Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee! Two minutes silence and pray for the peace of the departed soul.”

For the first time, a special flight was also arranged for official delegates. This is also the first time that representatives from all 29 states and Union Territories of Delhi, Chandigarh and Puducherry will be gracing the conference.

The delegates from India and various countries of the world will deliberate on eight subtopics on Hindi World and Indian Culture during the three-day conference.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also wished for the success of the conference. In a message, PM Modi said that he is sure that this conference would further encourage the use of Hindi language and its important role in the world.

After the inauguration session, a report will also be released on the recommendation made during the 10th conference held in Bhopal in 2015.
