Kabul, August 2: Around 150 terrorists belonged to Islamic State (ISIS) terror organization surrendered to Afghan security forces on Wednesday in the northwestern province of Jawzjan after they were defeated and driven out by Taliban and government in a fierce gun battle.

Notably, the government forces and Taliban is working together to drive out the ISIS terror organization from Afghanistan. Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid in a statement said, “More than 150 Daesh fighters surrendered to Afghan security forces in the northwestern province of Jawzjan after they were defeated and driven out by Taliban and government.”

Zabihullah Mujahid further said, "The evil phenomenon of Daesh has completely been eliminated and people have been freed from its tortures in Jawzjan province of Afghanistan." Mujahid also added that more than 150 Daesh fighters had been killed and more than 130 captured by the Taliban with the rest surrendering to government forces rather than the Taliban.

The Taliban and Afghan forces launched an offensive several weeks ago in Jawzjan against the ISIS terror outfit. However, the defeat is a major setback for the ISIS terror outfit as it has already lost hold control over several provinces.
