Grounding people to roots, Solar Charkhas aim at generating direct employment for 1 lakh people

New Delhi, August 2: Embarking on a dream to generate employment in the country, various initiatives have played their role exceptionally well in making the dream come true. With this dream, the Mission Solar Charkha was launched aiming to generate direct employment to nearly one lakh people.

The Mission Solar Charkhas was launched with the implementation of around 50 Solar Charkha Clusters across the country with a budget of Rs.550 crore for the year 2018-19 and 2019-20. Initiated by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, the scheme was launched by President Ram Nath Kovind on June 27 with the aim of linking five crore women across the country to the initiative.

Classifying Solar Charkhas in various villages, Minister of State for Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Giriraj Singh addressed the developments by a written reply in the Rajya Sabha.

The Ministry is also executing a project to establish 15 new Tool Rooms and Technology Development Centres and upgrade the existing 18 Centres in the country, at an estimated cost of Rs.2200 crore which includes World Bank Loan of USD 200 Million.

Taking women empowerment to a new level creating a revolution in the Khadi sector, Solar Charkha is a technology innovation which will help boost employment and generation of age-old Khadi custom in India. Taking us back to the roots, Solar Charkhas will keep us grounded to the custom and tradition of the country which India entails since ages.

Generating employment for the youth of the society in accounting for a greater beneficial strength of the country. Swadeshi goods and items will help in boosting the economy of the country and also majorly help in strengthening women empowerment in the country.
