Netflix to narrate intriguing backstories of Mahishmati kingdom

Hyderabad, Aug 2: SS Rajamouli, the man behind magnum opus series Baahubali is coming up with yet another exciting project. In a bid to narrate the intriguing backstories of Baahubali franchise, makers of Baahubali has joined hands with international streaming giant Netflix.

With the show called 'Baahubali: Before the Beginning' Netflix will present the intriguing tales from Mahishmati kingdom. According to media reports, this Netflix originals will be based on Anand Neelakantan’s The Rise of Sivagami, a trilogy based on the journey of Rajamat Sivagami, a pivotal character donned by the actress Ramya Krishnan.

The new venture will be helmed by Shobu Yarlagadda’s Arka Media Works, the production company behind Baahubali series. As quoted by variety, two talented directors Deva Katta and Praveen Sattaru from Telugu filmdom will assist Rajamouli.

In 2017, makers of Baahubali in collaboration with Graphic India had launched the animated series “Baahubali: The Lost Legends” on Amazon Prime Video. Incidentally,  the international Streaming platform had bagged the rights of Baahubali series for Rs25.5 crore. 

Confirming the development, Shobu took to twitter and said, “Super excited to the sharing this news! We have work cut out for us! To deliver an original series which once again lives up to and exceeds all expectations!”

Commenting on Baahubali- Netflix series, maverick director SS Rajamouli expressed that after pouring immense love on Baahubali series, this Netflix series will enthrall global audiences with its powerful sequences associated with the history of Mahishmati Kingdom.

Deva Katta rose to fame with actor Sharvanand starrer Prasthanam. Actor Sanjay Dutt has acquired the Hindi rights of the 2010 Telugu drama. Deva Katta will helm the Hindi remake under the banner of Sanjay Dutt Productions. The film went to the floor on 1 June.

India’s first highest grosser, Baahubali: The Conclusion is the brainchild of Veteran Writer V Vijayendra Prasad, father of legendary director SS Rajamauli. The Prabhas starrer two-part magnum opus was originally shot in Telugu and Tamil and dubbed in Hindi and Malayalam. The film stars Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, Sathyaraj and Ramya Krishnan, Nassar, Subba Raju in pivotal roles. The epic drama was bankrolled by the leading production house down south helmed by Producer Shobu Yarlagadda.
