Srinagar, August 20: Indian troopers on Sunday foiled the infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir and eliminated one unidentified Pakistani terrorist.

Notably, a Pakistani terrorist was trying to sneak in the Indian side along the LoC in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir. However, personnel of the Indian Army notice the suspected movement and immediately eliminated one terrorist. The body of slain terrorist along with arms and ammunition was recovered from the encounter site.

A defence spokesperson Col Rajesh Kalia said, “An infiltration bid has been foiled along the LoC in Kasturi Naar in Baramulla and one terrorist has been killed in the gunfight.”

On Friday last week, Pakistani troopers resorted to unprovoked firing along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kupwara district resulting into the injury of two civilians. Earlier, on August 13, the Indian Army gunned down two personnel of neighbour’s security forces and foiled infiltration bid in Tangdhar area of Kupwara district.

Importantly, the government in July said 55 civilians and security personnel have been killed in alleged ceasefire violations along the LoC and in firing across the international border with Pakistan so far in 2018. Pakistani security forces violated the ceasefire across the international border at least 1,432 times till July 23 this year.
