Accident in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district claimed 11 lives; miraculously 5-year-old child survived

Srinagar, August 21: In an unfortunate accident that took place in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district claimed the life of 11 pilgrims while a 5-year-old injured child was miraculously survived and shifted to the hospital.

 

Notably, a vehicle carrying Machail yatra pilgrim fell into a deep gorge after a driver lost his control near Nassu village on Kishtwar-Paddar-Ghulabghar road, 20 km from Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir. In the mishap, 11 pilgrims were killed while a 5-year-old child survived, however, received a minor injury.

After getting the information, Kishtwar police rushed to the accident spot and are engaged in relief work. The injured are shifted to a nearby hospital.

DGP SP Vaid in a tweet said, “Another major accident in Kishtwar, a vehicle carrying Yatries to Machail Mata rolled down in river Chenab 28 kilometres from Kishtwar towards Padder, 5 yrs child lone survivor,about dozen feared dead.”


“11 dead bodies recovered from accident spot, injured 5 yr old baby shifted to hospital,” he added.


This was the second accident in the time span of 24 hours. At least seven people including a policeman were killed and 12 others injured today as the two vehicles they were travelling in, came under a massive landslide on Doda-Kishtwar highway in the district.
