New Delhi, August 21: After having successful defence cooperation with Japanese Defence Minister on Monday, the next on cards is the Chinese counterpart visiting India to enhance and fortify the defence and maritime relations with India.

As India welcomes the State Councilor and Defense Minister, General Wei Fenghe, India and China aim to implement the consent discussed at the Wuhan Informal Summit. The visit by the Chinese counterpart intends to strengthen inclusive cooperation, deepen military exchanges and maintain peace & tranquility in the border areas.

India and China have stabilized their relations after Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited China President Xi Jinping in Wuhan in an informal summit to soothe ties after the 73-day military standoff on Bhutan’s Dokolam plateau last year.

General Wei’s visit to India will be seen as a step to firm up the trust built between both the armies as the work in implementing the decisions taken by PM Modi and Prez Xi Jinping in Wuhan. One of the agreements was to enhance trust between the two countries and ensure coordination and communication between their militaries.

Taking a quick flashback, in the month of June, the Chinese Defense Ministry had announced the visit of its military delegation to India as a follow up to the informal summit between PM Narendra Modi and President Xi Jinping. Announcing the decision to let the Chinese delegation visit India, Senior Colonel Ren Guoqiang, the Defence Ministry Spokesperson in Beijing said that both the countries India and China share important relations as both are important Asian countries.

The border-related exchanges between the two sides at different levels will help to strengthen the management and control of border areas. They will also help to build trust between the field troops of the two sides and translate the consensus reached by the two heads of state into real actions.
