Asian Games: Indian women hockey team thrashes Kazakhstan by 21-0

Jakarta, August 22: Indian women hockey team on Tuesday thrashed Kazakhstan in their second Pool B match, registering an emphatic victory by a score of 21-0 at the ongoing 18th edition of the Asian Games being held in Jakarta, Indonesia. This was India’s second consecutive win in the tournament.

 

Indian team exhibited their superiority over Kazakhstan with a dominant performance with Gurjit Kaur scoring 4 goals, Lalremsiami 3, Navneet Kaur 3, Vandana Katariya 3, Navjot Kaur 2, Lilima Minz 2, Neha Goyal 1, Udita 1, Deep Grace Ekka 1 and Monika to lead the Indian team's second-biggest victory of the Asian Games.

India started off the match aggressively and smashed three goals in the first ten minutes and technically won the contest. The Indians were scoring with almost every attempt and made it 9-0 by the end of the second quarter.


However, the 1982 Asian Games champions were far from done and continued inflicting misery upon the Kazakhs and added seven more goals in the third quarter and picked up from where they left in the final quarter to finish the match with a mind-boggling 21-0 scoreline.

The Indian Women's Hockey Team will play their third Pool B match against South Korea on Saturday, August 25. On the other side, the Indian Men's Hockey Team will also be in action as they play their second match of the against Hong Kong, China on Wednesday.
