Honoring the winning spirit of athletes, CM Devendra Fadnavis announces cash prize for medalist of Asian Games from Maharashtra

Mumbai, August 23: Striking gold in Asian Games, Indian Athletes have marked a place of extreme prestige for the country on the international front. Owing appreciation and applauding the athletes for their exemplary performance, Maharashtra Chief Minister has announced that the state will provide financial beneficiaries to the winners of Asian Games in Jakarta.

The Chief Minister of Maharashtra made the announcement by tweeting, “I am happy to announce that Maharashtra Government will give Rs 50 lakh to Gold Medal winners, Rs 30 lakh to Silver Medal winners and Rs 20 lakh to bronze Medal winners of #AsianGames2018 from Maharashtra!”

 

The state will honor gold medalists with a cash prize of Rs 50 Lakhs, Silver medalist with 30 Lakhs and Bronze medalist with Rs 20 Lakhs. This move came in after Indian Shooter Rahi Sarnobat from Kolhapur won a gold medal in Women’s 25m Pistol event on Wednesday. Rahi Sarnobat became the first Indian woman shooter to win an individual Asian Games gold medal.

 

The Indian athletes are storming medals at the Asian Games making way for a successful event by India. In a recent series of event, Indian ace Ankita Raina on Thursday bagged a bronze medal making India’s the medal tally to 16; which includes 4 gold, 3 silver, and 9 bronze medals.
