Rowers are on a roll, India bags gold in Men's Quadruple Sculls event

Jakarta, August 24: With India reining on a high spree, Indian rowers are on a roll at the Asian Games 2018 in Indonesia. After winning two bronze medals at Men's Lightweight Single and Doubles Sculls event, rowers Sawarn Singh, Dattu Bhokanal, Om Prakash and Sukhmeet Singh won the gold in Men's Quadruple Sculls event.

 

India beat Indonesia and Thailand to come on the top spot. With this, India has now won five gold and 21 medals in total. This was India's first gold in rowing and the fifth overall. The medal helped India jump one spot to be placed 9th on the medals tally.

 

India has 21 medals in total at the moment with 5 gold, 4 silver and 12 bronze. The rowing gold was also the country's third of the day and third in the sport as well.

Dushyant Chauhan bagged the bronze medal in the men's Lightweight Single Sculls final. Dushyant finished third with a time of 7:18.76 clinching the first medal for India on day 6.

The team of Rohit Kumar and Bhagwan Singh then added another bronze in the tally as they finished third in the men's Lightweight Double Sculls final. Rohit and Bhagwan finished with a time of 7:04.61 as Japan's Masayuki Miyaura and Masahiro Takeda clinched the gold medal while Byunghoon and Minhyuk Lee of South Korea clinched the silver medal.

The rowers have improved a lot on their performance on Friday after missing out on five medals on day 5.
