Mumbai, Aug 24: Terming Hey Ram movie as the turning point of her film career, actress Rani Mukerji said that she got impressed with the Kamal Haasan’s professionalism. The Hitchki actress in her recent interaction at Indian Film Festival Melbourne shared some anecdotes on the set of Kamal Haasan’s social drama Hey Ram.
As quoted by Deccan Chronicle, Rani said, “On the very first day, Kamal sir asked me to remove all my makeup.”She further mentioned, “ That incident taught me the importance of on-screen character rather than looks, hair, and weight of an artist. ”
Besides Rani Mukerji, actors like Hema Malini, Shah Rukh Khan, Naseeruddin Shah were the part of Tamil-Hindi bilingual film Hey Ram. The controversial film comments on India's partition and Mahatma Gandhi's assassination. After the gap of four years, Rani Mukerji was last seen in Hitchki where she essayed the role of Naina Mathur, a passionate teacher suffering from Tourette syndrome.
