Jharkhand High Court cancels bail of Lalu Prasad Yadav; orders to surrender before August 30

Ranchi, August 24: The Jharkhand High Court has today canceled the interim bail of RJD Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and has directed him to surrender before the 30th of this month. Prasad is currently on interim bail and undergoing treatment.


 

Lalu Prasad's application for regular bail came for hearing today at the Court of Justice Apresh Kumar, where both sides put their arguments.

Accepting the Prosecution argument that Prasad's illness is not life-threatening, Justice Apresh Kumar rejected the prayer for bail and asked Lalu Prasad to surrender before 30th of this month.

RJD chief Lalu Prasad is serving sentences in four different cases of fodder scams.

Lalu Prasad's lawyer, Prabhat Kumar said that he is not going to appeal in the Supreme Court against this Order of rejection of bail application by the Jharkhand High Court.

Lalu was found guilty in three separate fodder scam cases in 2017 and 2018 and was sentenced to a total of 14 years in jail.
