Chennai, Aug 27: A day after MK Stalin’s nomination for the post of DMK president, former Union Minister and elder son of late M Karunanidhi MK Alagiri expressed his wish to return to the DMK fold. Speaking to the media, the expelled DMK leader said that he was ready to serve the party, especially after the demise of former Chief Minister M Karunanidhi.

When asked about MK Stalin’s reservations, the former Union Minister warned DMK leaders to face heat if denied entry to the party. As quoted by ANI, Alagiri said, “If they don't include us in the party, they will have to face the consequences”.

According to media reports, several leaders including Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam's (DMK) working president MK Stalin is not ready to entertain MK Alagiri and prepared to fight against his own brother if challenged by former. The election for the post of DMK president is scheduled on August 28.

On August 13 after paying tributes to Karunanidhi's makeshift memorial at Marina Beach, Alagiri claimed that he enjoys the support of relatives and DMK members. He further went on saying that he was the real successor of Karunanidhi.

In March 2014, the then DMK chief M Karunanidhi had expelled Alagiri over his alleged involvement in the anti-party activity. When Karunanidhi appointed MK Stalin as working president, the decision did not go well with Alagiri and he rebelled against Karunanidhi.
