Indian Athletes rise in pride! Saina Nehwal bags bronze in Women’s singles Badminton making India’s total to 37 in #AsianGames

Jakarta, August 27: Making way for the champions, the Indian athletes have made clear that they stand tall on the international dais of sports podium. With having 36 medals in total, Saina Nehwal added one more medal in the list making it 37 in the Asian Games 2018. The ace Badminton player Saina Nehwal clinched bronze after losing to Tai Tzu Ying of Chinese Taipei in the Asian Games 2018 women’s singles badminton semifinal on Monday.

India bagged five silver and three bronze medals to increase the medals tally to 37 including 7 gold, 10 silver, and 20 bronze. Indian riders have won the Silver medal in the equestrian event which is a team event that comprised of four riders consisting of three personnel from Indian Army. Major Ashish Malik, Jitender Singh, Rakesh Kumar and Fouaad Mirza were the part of winning team.

 

India's men's and mixed teams win bronze medals in a bridge event. Saina Nehwal and PV Sindhu won their respective singles quarter-finals match to assure medals for India. In archery, men and women's compound teams qualified for finals. India defeated Republic of Korea 5-3 in men's hockey Pool A match. India stays unbeaten with four wins and top group with 12 points.

 

In a recent, P V Sindhu has entered the finals of the Badminton against world No.1 Tai Tzu Ying. PV Sindhu assures herself of at least a silver medal by reaching the final with a 21-17, 15-21, 21-10 win over world No.2 Akane Yamaguchi.

Javelin Thrower Neeraj Chopra is among the number of Indian athletes who will aim to win Gold on Day 9 of the events i.e on Monday. Neeraj, who was India's flag-bearer in the opening ceremony, will be in action in the Men's Javelin Throw Final along with Shivpal Singh.
