Regime changed but apathy continues on PoK; dozens injured after police baton-charged demonstrators

Kotli, August 28: In Pakistan the whole government changed, Prime Minister changed but the apathy and human rights violation from Pakistani security forces on the residents of occupied Kashmir. A massive protest erupted ones again in Pakistan occupied Kashmir as the demonstrators demanded their due share of rights, which they have been deprived of under Islamabad's more than seven-decade misrule in the region. But police did lathi-charge to suppress the voices.

 

Dozens of innocent people were severely injured in Kotli town of PoK after police baton-charged demonstrators who were carrying out a peaceful rally. The demonstrators were demanding their due share of rights, against the apathy and human rights violation done by Pakistani forces in PoK. To suppress the voices and disperse the huge number the protesters, police lobbed tear gas shells and did lathi-charge.

This is not the first time when the people of PoK had came forward and demonstrated against Islamabad. So far hundreds of protests have been done by the resident of PoK over Islamabad’s apathy, human rights violation and other issues.

BACKGROUND:

PoK is part of an erstwhile princely state of Jammu and Kashmir. PoK is a legitimate part of Jammu and Kashmir when the accession document was signed by Raja Hari Singh in 1947. But the betrayal of some British officers, backstab by Pakistani forces and raised communal sentiments hijacked the PoK at that time. The map of Jammu and Kashmir features the area as part of India.
