PV Sindhu brings laurel to country with her stellar performance; bags silver at Asian Games

Jakarta, August 28: Continuing her good run in the international sports arena, Olympic Silver Medalist PV Sindhu on Tuesday bagged Silver medal at the ongoing Asian Games being held in the Indonesian capital Jakarta. 

Notably, PV Sindhu became the first Indian to clinch first ever silver medal in badminton at the Asian Games. In the summit clash at the Asian Games, PV Sindhu went down to Taipei's Tai Tzu Ying by 13-21, 16-21. Due to this loss, Sindhu won a silver medal while Tai cinched clinched gold.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Rathore and may others congratulated PV Sindhu for her stellar performance at Asian Games.



Earlier, in the day, Indian women's compound team and men’s compound team in Archery signed off with a silver medal after both losing to South Korea in the finals at the Asian Games. Indian paddlers won the Bronze medal in Table Tennis after losing to South Korea by 0-3. This is India’s first ever medal in Table Tennis at the Asian Games 



On Monday, the ace Badminton player Saina Nehwal clinched bronze after losing to Tai Tzu Ying of Chinese Taipei in the Asian Games 2018 women’s singles badminton semifinal. While Neeraj Chopra won gold at Asian Games. The medal tally of India reached to 45 including 8 gold, 16 silver and 21 bronze and stands at ninth place.
