Heavy rains paralyze Chhattisgarh; red alert for 24 hours

Raipur, August 28: Now its Chhattisgarh who has joined the queue of the states affected by heavy rain which has disrupted normal life in the state. Since three days heavy rain has been recorded in the state Rivers and rivulets are in spate and flood like the situation is prevailing is several districts. Many villages have been cut off from their respective district headquarters.


 

Water levels in most of the reservoirs are on rising due to continuous rain. Eight gates of Gangrel dams in Dhamtari district have been opened and more than 40,000 cusec water is being released from the dam.

Gates of other dams have also been opened, leading to a sudden rise in water level in Mahanadi, Shivnath, Kharun, Sondour and other rives. A has been sounded in the villages close to the banks of these rivers.

In state capital Raipur, almost all low lying areas have been inundated and the administration has declared a holiday for the schools. Met department has predicted heavy rainfall during the next 24 hours and a red has been sounded across the state.

Recently heavy Rains and floods had paralyzed Kerala, Karnataka and a bit of Madhya Pradesh.
