Union Minister Hansraj Ahir defends Pune police on Bhima Koregaon raids

New Delhi, Aug 29:   

Defending the move of Pune police in connection with Bhima Koregaon raids, Union Minister Hansraj Ahir said that people should refrain from commenting on police action.

Speaking to the media over the criticism of the central government by opposition parties and human right activist, Ahir said that police crackdown has exposed the ill motives of some people.

He underlined that those trying to divide society by igniting caste tensions will not be spared at any cost. Applauding the efforts of Pune police, Hansraj Ahir said that Judiciary will decide the fate of so-called activist.

On Tuesday, series of raids were conducted in cities like in Mumbai, Ranchi, Hyderabad, Faridabad, Delhi and Thane where activist like Varavara Rao, Arun Ferreira, Gautam Navlakha, Gonsalves and Sudha Bhardwaj were nabbed for their alleged connection with  Bhima Koregaon violence.

Earlier in the day, Maharashtra Minister Deepak Kesarkar said that state police have enough pieces of evidence to substantiate the action taken by Pune police. He maintained that without proof security forces doesn't take action against anybody.
