Combat operation against terrorists continues with full swing in Jammu and Kashmir; at least four eliminated in 24 hrs

Srinagar, August 3: At least four terrorists were gunned down in two different encounters within 24 hours in Jammu and Kashmir. On Friday morning, two unknown terrorists were eliminated after a fierce gun battle that took place in Drusu village in Jammu and Kashmir's Sopore district. The search operation is still continuing.

 

Notably, security forces including CRPF, Indian Army and JK police personnel led a joint operation after getting a specific input about the presence of two terrorists in Drusu village in Jammu and Kashmir's Sopore district. As soon as the search operation began, terrorists fired upon the security forces which led to the fierce encounter. In retaliation, two terrorists were killed.

Earlier, on Thursday, two terrorists belonged Hizbul Mujahideen terror outfit were gunned down at Lolab valley in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir. The combat operation was halt after a body of two slain terrorists along with arms and ammunition were recovered from the encounter spot.

Director General of Police (DGP), SP Vaid, confirmed the attack in a tweet saying, “Two terrorists were killed in an encounter with J&K Police/ Security Forces in Lolab Kupwara few minutes back.”


The gun battle comes two days after terrorists hurled a grenade at a CRPF patrolling party at Sherbagh in Anantnag district. In this attack, at least three CRPF personnel sustained injuries. Earlier, the centre has said that 110 terrorists were killed in the first seven months of this year.
