New Delhi, August 3: The Supreme Court today refused to interfere with a Delhi High Court order granting bail to Karti Chidambaram, son of former Union minister P Chidambaram, for alleged financial irregularities related to INX Media.

The bench said it is not interfering with the bail granted to Karti but was leaving the question of law open -- on whether he can approach the high court when his application for bail was already pending before the trial court.

On 25th of June, the CBI moved the apex court challenging the high court order granting bail to Karti.

Recently Delhi High Court extended till September 28 the interim protection from arrest granted to senior Congress leader P Chidambaram on his pleas seeking anticipatory bail in the INX Media case.

The Court also directed Enforcement Directorate, ED, to file its response in the money laundering case related to INX Media within four weeks. During the hearing, the CBI told the court that it has already filed its reply in the case. The matter will be heard on 28th September.

The court had on 31st May granted interim protection from arrest to the former Union Minister and had directed the ED not to take any coercive step against him in the INX Media money laundering case till today.
