‘Blue Flame Revolution’ Ujjwala Yojana brings smiles in 5 cr homes with free LPG connections

New Delhi, August 3: Modi Sarkar has again achieved a milestone in their progress path that brings a blue flame revolution in the houses of 5 Crore poor families from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. PM Modi’s pet project Ujjwala Yojana will today achieve its target of providing 5 crores free LPG connections to poor families. On this Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan handed over the Ujjwala Connection No. 5 crore to the selected beneficiary at a function in Parliament in the presence of Petroleum minister Dharmendra Pradhan today.

 

LS Speaker Sumitra Mahajan said,“It has happened that small girls were denied to go to school but were forced to gather wood sticks for burning Chulhas, this who have experienced, from their point of view this scheme is very important.”

And also she added that there are families who even can’t afford 3000 or 4000 to take a gas connection, for them this Yojana has been proved as a boon.

 

Ujjwala aims at bringing clean cooking fuel to poor households, identified according to the Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC). More than 44 percent of Ujjwala beneficiaries is currently are from SC/ST communities.

The scheme was launched by the Prime Minister on May 1, 2016, in Ballia district of Uttar Pradesh with a target to provide free LPG connections to five crore poor households by March 31, 2019, with a budgetary allocation of 8,000 crore rupees.

 

The government will achieve this target nearly eight months ahead of schedule. Right from the beginning, the Ujjwala scheme consistently progressed ahead of schedule.

Encouraged by the rapid progress, the government in February raised the target to eight crore poor households by 2020 with an additional outlay of 4,800 crore rupees.
