Gujarat gets Rs 730 crore for Sardar Sarovar Dam

New Delhi, Aug 30: In order to fast-track the pending work of Sardar Sarovar Dam on Narmada river, central government on Wednesday approved Rs 730 crore for the key national project.

Speaking to the media, Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel assured that state government aims to complete the Narmada project by December 2019. Along with this, soft loan of Rs 1,500 crore has been sanctioned for other irrigation projects in the state.

Sardar Sarovar Dam, considered as the lifeline of Gujarat will cost Rs 13,000 crore. According to state officials, funds released by center would help state agencies in speeding up the incomplete canal network.
