Election Commission on two-day visit to review poll preparations of forthcoming assembly elections in Chhattisgarh

Raipur, August 31: A high-level team of the Election Commission is on a two-day visit to review the poll preparations of forthcoming assembly elections in Chhattisgarh. A team headed by Chief Election Commissioner OP Rawat, reached Raipur today morning.

 

The full bench of the Election Commission first held meeting with representatives of political parties to take suggestions for better and smooth conduct of elections.

Keeping in mind the upcoming state general elections 2018 in Chhattisgarh, the Election Commission of India is holding the full board meeting on August 31 at Civil Lines based New Circuit House Plus. During the morning hours, the Commissioners would be holding a meeting with political parties. After which they would hold a meeting with Chhattisgarh state Chief Secretary and Director General of Police.

This meeting would be followed by all the revenue divisional commissioners, Inspectors General of Police, Collectors, District Electoral Officers and Superintendents of Police. The meeting would especially identify the preparations at the ground level.

According to officials, "The team may also go to Bastar to make sure the elections take place in a fair manner in the Maoist-hit area."

Also, Chief Election Commissioner Rawat on Monday chaired a crucial all-party meeting where representatives of registered national and state political outfits had discussed the range of issues on upcoming 2019 general polls.
