At DMK meeting, Gadkari invokes Vajpayee Karunanidhi bonding

Chennai, Aug 31: Invoking late DMK leader M Karunanidhi’s personal equation with former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Union Surface Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari said that the erstwhile Jan Sangh along with DMK fought jointly against the horrifying emergency imposed by former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

Speaking at the all-party meeting organized by DMK, the Minister appreciated Dravidian leader for his working style with other parties irrespective of ideological differences. Gadkari noted that visionary Karunanidhi’s DMK had extremely co-ordinal relations the BJP leader. During Vajpayee’s tenure, Karunanidhi, DMK was the key partner of NDA. “Ideologies of the Dravidian movement and the BJP have many similarities including fostering and learning from our glorious heritage” Gadkari observed.

Recalling Karunanidhi’s contribution towards the Tamil language, the Union Minister stated that future generation will remember Karunanidhi for his outstanding literary skills. He mentioned that it was Karunanidhi who worked relentlessly to promote and popularise the Tamil classic Tirukkural penned by the great Tiruvalluvar.
