Hunt continues! Security forces finish yet another counterterrorism operation in JK; eliminates five terrorists

Srinagar, August 4: Hunting continues! Security forces on Saturday neutralized five terrorists belonged to Pakistan based Lashkar-e-Taiba terror outfit at Kilora area of Shopian district in Jammu and Kashmir. So far the body of one terrorist along with arms and ammunition is recovered and search operation is on.

 

After receiving a specific input of the presence of the unspecified number of terrorists, security forces including Indian Army’s 44RR and Jammu and Kashmir’s police SOG launched a search operation. As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot amid fired some warning shots, the hiding terrorists opened fire ensured into a fierce encounter. In retaliation, at least five Lashkar men were killed.

The Indian Army’s Northern Command in a tweet said, “#IndianArmy #OpKiloora (#Shopian). One #Terrorist killed. Joint Operation in progress.”


Out of 5 terrorists, one was killed on Friday night while others were eliminated on Saturday early morning. The operation is still in progress and more details are awaited.

 

This comes a day after four terrorists were killed in two different encounters in Jammu and Kashmir. Two unknown terrorists were eliminated after a fierce gun battle that took place in Drusu village in Jammu and Kashmir's Sopore district. While two terrorists belonged Hizbul Mujahideen terror outfit were gunned down at Lolab valley in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir. Earlier, the centre has said that 110 terrorists were killed in the first seven months of this year.
