Nurturing relations! India, Kyrgyzstan deepen bilateral ties on health, tourism, defence and security

Issyk Kul, August 4: Nurturing relations and escalating new heights of partnership, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on her bilateral visit to Kyrgyzstan strengthened ties on areas of tourism, Information Technology, health, natural resources with Foreign Minister Erlan Abdyldaev in restricted and extended formats.

EAM Sushma Swaraj had the opportunity to interact with senior officials from IT, health, tourism, energy and natural resources of the Kyrgyz government and discussed possible areas of collaboration. The areas discussed during the bilateral meeting covered all areas of cooperation, including political and parliamentary exchanges, defense and security, science and technology, economic, health and tourism.

 

The two Ministers expressed satisfaction at the progress of bilateral relations by taking forward the decisions taken during high-level visits in 2015 and 2016 and discussions held on sidelines of SCO Summit in Qingdao.

EAM Sushma Swaraj congratulated Kyrgyz Republic for taking over as Chair of SCO in 2018-19 and assured full cooperation in the successful conduct of meetings and SCO Summit in 2019 to be held in Kyrgyzstan. The two Ministers also discussed other issues of regional and international interest.

 

The visit by Sushma Swaraj further consolidated the warm and cordial multi-dimensional relations between India and the Kyrgyz Republic. The visit has added to high-level exchanges between India and the Kyrgyz Republic in the past few years since the visit of Prime Minister in July 2015.

 

The bilateral visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Kyrgyzstan in July 2015 and of the then President of the Kyrgyz Republic to India in December 2016, as also interactions on the margins of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summits, have consolidated the traditionally cordial and close ties between the two countries, providing impetus to further strengthening of bilateral ties.

Concluding a focused and result-oriented visit, EAM takes off for Tashkent for the final leg of her 3-nation visit.
