Panaji, August 4: Goa to come up with the new policy that will put a board on all its casinos ‘only for tourists’. Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has stated that Government will notify specially designated zones where present casinos will be shifted. CM has further stated that licenses of the casinos will be issued only after they grant their willingness to shift in designated zones assigned by the government.

“As a policy Goans will not be permitted to enter the casino’s playing areas and only visiting tourists shall be permitted. A mechanism in this regard will be put in place once the gaming commissioner is appointed and appropriate rules for regulation shall be formulated,” Parrikar told the Goa legislative assembly

"The Government shall identify notified designated zones where present offshore casinos can be shifted. That means the government will notify the zones. Licenses for offshore casinos will be issued provided they grant their willingness within a year's time," Parrikar said.

He further stated that a Gaming Commissioner to regulate casinos would be appointed to regulate and oversee casino activities in the state.

CM Parrikar also said, “Licenses for casino operations being granted in a designated zone can be considered for the tenure of 10 to 15 years taking into account the huge investment required for such projects.”
