New Delhi, Aug 6: The Muslim Rashtriya Manch (MRM), a social reform movement active among the Muslims of India will set up Family Counselling Centres (Parivar Sulah Kendra) all over the country with an objective to save families from breaking on frivolous grounds.

A resolution to this effect was passed unanimously at the just concluded meeting of the MRM Central Council (Kendriya Parishad) in New Delhi under the guidance of MRM Patron Indresh Kumar and National Convener Mohd Afzal.

It was also decided that these centres will be managed by the MRM Women’s Cell (Mahila Prakoshth) all over the country. The MRM has its units in over 300 districts of the country covering 25 states.

Briefing the media persons MRM National Convener Mohd Afzal said that efforts would be made to start such centres all over the country by yearend. He said that the issues related to women will be dealt with by women and those related to men will be handled by men members.

He said that the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) had embarked upon setting up of Darul Kaza (Sharia Courts) all over the country. But there call evoked a very poor response with just seven proposals. Out of these, four were rejected. The AIMPLB has justified the triple talaq and never delivered justice to women, he said.

He said that in view of the poor response to its proposal of Darul Kaza, the AIMPLB has put the issue of Sharia Court on the backburner for the time being. Moreover, the decision of such courts would be challenged in the court of law. Its decision also came under criticism for being parallel legal system forcing them to keep the same in abeyance for the time.

The MRM family counselling centre will deliver justice to women and restore their dignity. The people will be given information about the legal provisions and other facilities. The MRM has also launched a non-government pension scheme for the talaq-affected women and presently this scheme is implemented in Delhi, UP, MP and Maharashtra under which a certain amount is given to the women as pension.

The MRM has also passed a resolution to set up Khudai Khidmadgar Committee in each district to help the needy and neglected lot of the people. The proposal to this effect was presented by MRM Sewa Prakoshth Sanyojak Dr Rajiv Shrivastava which was accepted unanimously.

It may be recalled that the Khudai Khidmadgar Sangathan was first formed by the veteran freedom fighter Khan Abdul Gaffar Khan also known as ‘Sarhad Gandhi’ in 1929. He was in favour of United India and never wanted to join Pakistan but was forced to do so much against his wishes. The organization he formed was based on the principles of service and patriotism.

Drawing inspiration from this veteran leader Dr Rajiv Shrivastava proposed to start a similar organization under the Sewa Prakoshth of MRM to serve the needy, poor and neglected sections of the society and spread the message of nationalism and patriotism. This will change the image of the Muslim society and bring maximum number of them into the national mainstream and contribute their mite in the nation building activities.
