Kolkata, August 6: If you are going to travel to Andaman and Nicobar Islands or West Bengal then beware because our Meteorological Department has warned of rough to very rough sea conditions off the Odisha and West Bengal coasts and the Andaman Islands, under the impact of the cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal.

Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea. The department said in an advisory that most of north coastal and south Odisha are likely to experience thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and heavy rain today.

Heavy rain has also been predicted in Northern, Eastern and Northeastern parts of the country, including Uttar Pradesh, Chandigarh, Delhi, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Nagaland.

Recently incessant rainfall in the north had disrupted the normal life of people in the states of Uttar Pradesh, Assam, and Nagaland. The heavy rainfall had resulted in causing floods, landslides and immense damage to property and livestock.

Several rivers including the Brahmaputra are still flowing above the danger level. Flood situations remain critical in the Golaghat district due to the release of excess water by NEEPCO from Doyong reservoir. Overall more than 1 lakh people are reeling under the fury of the flood in 8 districts.
