To boost tourism, e-visa facility extended for citizens of 165 countries

New Delhi, August 7: With an aim to boost terrorism, the government as extended e-visa facility for citizens of at least 165 countries at 25 airports and five seaports. This was said by Tourism Minister K J Alphons on Monday.

 

In a written reply to Lok Sabha, Minister K J Alphons said that the centre has extended e-visa facility for citizens of 165 countries at 25 airports and five seaports. He further added that the government has also launched 'Incredible India 2.0' campaign to promote country’s tourism across the world.

He also noted that the development and promotion of tourism is the responsibility of state governments but Union Tourism Ministry provides financial assistance to states and UTs to organize many fairs, festivals and tourism-related events for the promotion of tourism.

“A 24X7 toll-free multi-lingual tourist helpline has also been put in place as part of the efforts. Listing out the efforts marked to boost tourism, he, in the end, said that events such as 'paryatan parv' (tourism festival), International Buddhist Conclave and International Tourism Mart too have been organized.
